HeartPlace - USHV is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a full-time float position in the East DFW area, primarily in Collin and Dallas Counties. Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service and the highest quality patient care.
  • Assists patient to exam rooms.
  • Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
  • Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.
  • Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts (Proficiency Required)
  • Assists physicians with patient exams as needed.
  • Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)
  • Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.
  • Maintains cleanliness and supplies in patient exam rooms.
  • Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.
  • Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired.
  • Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.
  • Pulls patient charts when necessary.
  • Uses the computer for patient inquiry and scheduling.
  • Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
  • Maintains current CPR and Medical Assistant certification.
  • At all times protects the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations; does not normally have business need for seeing PHI of employees.
  • Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.
  • Works onsite within the clinic during scheduled hours. Regular attendance is an essential part of this role.
  • May be required to move between locations as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or Texas accredited GED
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • EKG experience required.
  • Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.
  • Understanding of OSHA requirements in a clinical setting.
  • Understanding of HIPAA requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.

HeartPlace - USHV has an excellent full time employment opportunity, with benefits, for an experienced Medical Assistant FLOAT for the East DFW area, generally located in in Collin and Dallas Counties. Prior recent cardiology experience would be highly preferred. Current Medical Assistant Certification is required with 1 year of Medical Assistant and EKG experience required. Reimbursement for mileage driven from home base while floating to clinics.

General Summary

Performs selected nursing and administrative/clerical duties that assist in the management of our patient's care.
