The Production Manager at Teknova is responsible for managing personnel and day-to-day manufacturing processes, which may include Buffers, Rich Media, Dry Media, Washroom, RUO Cleanroom, GMP Cleanroom, Agar Production, and/or Count GMP Facility. Responsibilities

  • Ensures that standard operating procedures are accurate and followed to maintain compliance in line with ISO13485:2016.
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams and facilitates cross functional meetings to meet daily product deadlines.
  • Ensures that any issues in the manufacturing process of products are resolved adequately and in a timely fashion and works with Engineering and Facilities to minimize future errors.
  • Strive for continuous improvements in all areas of production; Recommend more effective manufacturing procedures (if available); Implement approved changes in manufacturing procedures.
  • Cultivates and promotes a strong continuous improvement culture with a focus on safety.
  • Works with Engineering to determine new capabilities for specific manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
  • Establishes and tracks metrics for the team and provides feedback at team meetings.
  • Oversee and delegate work to Supervisors / Leads; Prioritize and organize production flow in the production areas.
  • Reviews and verifies work completed by others and documents verifications on controlled documents.
  • Promptly acts upon all communications about Operations which are made by MS Teams, email, intercom and/or radio
  • Ensures that employee reviews are completed in a timely manner as required by the Performance Management program.
  • Works with Quality, Engineering, Facilities, and / or Manufacturing Science and Technology personnel to troubleshoot any production deviations.
  • Provides Technical support to manufacturing teams as needed.
  • Supports effective communication in the manufacturing teams so that action plans are created and carried out as effectively as possible.
  • Addresses any complaints, Nonconformances (NCRs), Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) related to their department.
  • Work with Production Supervisors to ensure appropriate training schedule is maintained for all associates.
  • Manages resources and inventory to reduce downtime and meet production targets.
  • Creates and maintains minimum and maximum stock level parameters for all production related materials and coordinates the purchase of materials and equipment as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree required. May be supplemented by 4+ years of related experience.
  • Significant management experience, preferably 5+ direct reports in a manufacturing setting.
  • Fundamental and working knowledge of ERP computer application system preferred
  • Minimum basic knowledge of chemical handling and hazards
  • Must be able to perform mathematical calculations on basic dilutions and conversions.
  • Ability to follow instruction (this could be verbal or written procedures) and prioritize tasks; good time-management, problem prevention, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise multiple departments and handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience in GMP environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate aseptic techniques, if applicable.
  • The ability and flexibility to gown aseptically and stand for up to 4 hours consecutively whilst working in a cleanroom facility, if applicable.
  • Able to work within a clean environment, if applicable.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, carry, push and use both hands when performing assigned duties.
  • Must be able to lift / push / pull at least 25 pounds.

  • Provide motivation, support, and guidance to all associates while maintaining appropriate accountability within the team.
  • Completes all documentation by following the ALCOA+ principle (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate, Available, Enduring, Complete and Consistent) and GDP (Good Documentation Practices) principles.
  • Enters transactions in ERP system accurately and in a timely manner. Reports inventory discrepancies in a timely manner while following corporate guidelines. This may include material issuing, bin to bin transfers and work completion transactions.
  • Follows all gowning and aseptic practices as appropriate for their assigned work are which may include a clean room environment
  • Follows all safety guidelines when handling hazardous chemicals.
  • Complete all other work duties as assigned

Salary Description

$93,196.00 - $116,496.00
