Saylor Consulting Group is seeking a full-time Field Project Engineer in Oakland to support Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) in performing field and construction engineering and document controls related services. Responsibilities

  • Provide planning, scheduling, resource allocation, coordination support including corresponding projects and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
  • Develop and/or Review Interim Operating Procedures (IOP), Site-Specific Work Plans (SSWP), System Access Request (SARs), Work Orders and Operating Bulletins
  • Prepare written documents including correspondence, emails, proposals, reports, records, memos and other construction type documents
  • Provide material and construction cost estimates
  • Manage, conduct and provide technical support for field including measurements and surveying
  • Coordinate and support procurements and materials
  • Prepares take-offs of construction materials as needed
  • Review or provide engineering, construction, and contractual documentation/submittals, inspection reports and provide comments/recommendation
  • Engages Engineer of Record or Engineer assigned to provide Design Support During Construction as needed to ensure technical compliance and safety of construction work
  • Assist with project budget, scope, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Prepare scope of work and planning documents for BART-constructed project(s)
  • Track progress and project resource allocation of construction activities
  • Document Changes during construction and maintain document control system for Changes during construction
  • Implement and ensure that District approved quality Assurance Program is successfully executed
  • Track Project submittals, responses and, if necessary, reviews the submittals
  • Process and/or assists in the making and processing of System Access Requests, and attends meetings
  • Escalate construction issues to BART Project Manager as needed
  • Schedule and conduct meetings and prepare meeting summaries
  • Provide day to day management of construction schedule, cost, and milestones
  • Provide support for closeout activities including as-builts, redlines and inspections
  • Archive and maintain construction files in BART repository system

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years' experience performing Field/Project Engineering work for large capital construction projects, preferably with BART or other local transit agencies
  • Experience with electrical systems required
  • Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in California, preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field; may be substituted for demonstrated substantial experience in construction of similar projects
  • Knowledge of BART's and CalOSHA Safety Rules
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and materials
  • Knowledge of Scheduling Software such as MS Project and Primavera P6
  • Advanced analytics and data manipulation skills in MS Excel
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, project-centric environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Saylor Consulting Group is seeking a full-time Field Engineer in Oakland to support our client Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) in performing field and construction engineering and document controls related services to support a planned 34.5kV cable replacement and various fiber optic installation projects as part of an ongoing contract. The ability to work onsite in Oakland, CA is required.

Daily Duties
  • Provide planning, scheduling, resource allocation, coordination support including corresponding projects and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ);
  • Develop and/or Review Interim Operating Procedures (IOP), Site-Specific Work Plans (SSWP), System Access Request (SARs), Work Orders and Operating Bulletins;
  • Prepare written documents including correspondence, emails, proposals, reports, records, memos and other construction type documents;
  • Provide material and construction cost estimates;
