  • Identifies, develops, and implements alternative methods of service delivery.
  • Serves as backup driver when needed.
  • Oversees all vehicle insurance and certifications.
  • Works closely with other Managers/Directors to support Agency objectives.
  • Participates in Community Services Managers meetings and other agency committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must comply with CJE policies, rules, and procedures pursuant to the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.
  • Supervisory experience with a variety of personnel.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance and automotive mechanics, with a preference for paratransit vehicles and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of MS Office programs and computerized scheduling systems.
  • Meet State of Illinois Department of Motor Vehicle license code requirements.
  • Knowledge of service area.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Preferred

  • BA or BS degree.
  • Two years' work experience with paratransit or transit system operations.

Full Job Description

Summary

Manages the delivery of all CJE transportation services for passengers, intra-agency deliveries and contract services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages the Transportation program in accordance with applicable policy and governmental regulations.
  • Responsible for annual strategic and budget planning process for Transportation.
  • Responsible for management of all vehicles in CJE fleet including maintenance of all CJE owned or leased vehicles. Develops and implements a preventative maintenance program for all CJE vehicles.
  • Initiates appropriate actions to ensure that safety standards and crisis preparedness are always maintained. Keeping within approved guidelines takes the necessary steps to eliminate or minimize all potential risk to clients, staff, property and/or equipment.
  • Hires, supervises and trains personnel, conducts evaluations of individuals as established per job description and agency and program standards.
  • Develops and monitors all Transportation metrics to ensure that the services achieve identified objectives.
  • Develops and maintains contracts for subsidized transportation services including management of compliance and audit requirements.
  • Responsible for identification, development and implementation of alternative methods of service delivery to clients.
  • Serves as backup driver when needed.
  • Responsible for oversight of all vehicle insurance and certifications.
  • Works closely with other CJE Managers/Directors to support the objectives of the Agency. Participates in Community Services Managers meetings and other agency committees as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have supervisory experience with a variety of personnel.

To successfully perform the essential duties and functions of this position, an individual must have the following skills and abilities:

  • Must have familiarity with preventative maintenance and automotive mechanics, with a preferred specialty in paratransit vehicles and equipment.
  • Must have a strong understanding of MS Office programs and computerized scheduling systems.
  • Must meet State of Illinois Department of Motor Vehicle license code requirements.
  • Must have knowledge of service area.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.

Education and/or Experience

  • BA or BS degree preferred and two (2) years 'work experience with paratransit or transit system operations required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with CJE's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; completing staff biweekly payroll; managing PTO/Sick time requests; Appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; maintaining relations across Agency departments.
