Responsibilities

  • Provide students with a safe and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success.
  • Oversee the daily management of social development programs.
  • Use proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and problems.
  • Manage the non-class hour residential living environment and ensure quality recreational and evening programming.

  • Supervise and manage the program and activities of the Social Development Department when on duty.
  • May be assigned Acting Residential Living Manager in the Residential Living Manager's absence.
  • Follow all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensure no manipulation of student data.
  • Ensure Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
  • Support the Social Development Director in interviewing, recommending for hire, disciplining, recommending for termination and evaluating the performance of the employees in the Social Development Department.
  • Provide students with quality and structured non-class hour activities including leadership, student government, recreation, extended training day and other special programs.
  • Ensure that Center facilities are organized, clean, safe and conducive to student achievement and success.
  • Coordinate staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.
  • Employ sound time-management and delegation skills.
  • Provide required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
  • Develop Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training and WBL.
  • Mentor, monitor and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  • Provide high-quality supervision and management for the student population.
  • Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited school preferred.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in program management and direction with a substantial experience working with youth.
  • Must possess a valid in-State Drivers License and meet the Company insurability requirements.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.

Join us in our mission at the Phoenix Job Corps Center as a Center Shift Supervisor? As a Center Shift Supervisor, you will help cultivate a nurturing and encouraging living environment for our ages 16-24 residential living students.

You will be responsible to provide students with a safe and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement and success. You will oversee the daily management of social development programs and use proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and problems. CSS will manage the non-class hour residential living environment and ensure quality recreational and evening programming to enhance student independent living and employability skills, ensuring strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.

The Center Shift Supervisor will supervise and manage the program and activities of the Social Development Department when on duty, and may be assigned Acting Residential Living Manager in the Residential Living Manager's absence.
  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
  • Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
  • Supports the Social Development Director in interviewing, recommending for hire, disciplining, recommending for termination and evaluating the performance of the employees in the Social Development Department.

  • Effectively motivates, empowers and requires staff to perform his/her job responsibilities. Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
  • Develops Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training and WBL. Promotes a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establishes meaningful relationships with elected officials.
  • Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  • Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
  • Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.
  • Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
  • Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and ensures that problems are, in fact, corrected.
  • Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
  • Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
