The Service Manager at Uihlein Electric Co Inc is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, networking with existing and potential customers, overseeing projects from start to finish, designing and estimating electrical for small commercial construction/remodel projects, and maintaining the after-hours emergency service program. Responsibilities

  • Identifies new business opportunities, utilizes internal resources and staff as necessary to grow revenue
  • Networks with existing and potential customers, including entertaining them as needed after normal business hours
  • Oversees assigned projects of any size from start to finish ensuring quality and timely completion
  • Designs and estimates electrical for small commercial construction/remodel projects
  • Maintains after-hours emergency service program (on-call routing, go/no go criteria, etc)
  • Prepares and delivers service quotes
  • Accurately assesses and calculates electrical engineering projects in terms of time and material or contract prices of quote preparation
  • Ensures delivery of equipment, materials, tools, and field staff are scheduled to meet project deadlines
  • Provides direction and holds field employees accountable to all company policies
  • Evaluates project costs ensuring project remains on/under budget
  • Prepares and submits change orders in a timely fashion
  • Processes and maintains proper documents needed for projects
  • Acts as a liaison between architects, contractors, and owners
  • Conducts site safety and quality inspections weekly
  • Conducts customer site walk throughs and informational meetings
  • Attends operations, safety, and project meetings

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 6 years of prior experience in Commercial Electrical Industry, with at least 2 years in a progressively increasing leadership role
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes and standards
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Demonstrated understanding of the electrical process from preconstruction through job completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Prior experience with estimating software preferred
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects while meeting customer expectations and expected margin on the job
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and through written format
  • Ability to create and maintain rapport with customers, employees, etc.
  • Must be able to drive a passenger vehicle for Company business as required
  • Able to work in an office where the job performance may require a long time sitting or standing
  • Produce, file, and perform other administrative functions as assigned
  • Ability to wear job-specific required PPE as needed
  • Must be able to drive to various customer sites as required
