As a Manufacturing Business Manager for Tablets at Google, you will be responsible for managing commercial relationships with contract manufacturers, driving sourcing, contract, commercial, and performance optimization decisions for advanced health and home devices. This role involves working closely with Google engineering and operations teams to achieve product cost, schedule, and quality targets throughout the product life cycle, as well as driving effective escalations, hosting executive sessions, and leading strategic initiatives to enhance long-term manufacturing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop contract manufacturing/joint design manufacturing strategy and implement supplier management processes with partners.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of Request For (X)(RFx) processes for sourcing needs.
  • Develop cost models of assemblies and products Manufacture Value Add (MVA) and lead negotiations from inception to agreement phase while driving continuous cost optimization during mass production.
  • Manage total cost of ownership negotiations including but not limited to MVA, Costed Bill of Materials CBOM), scrap cost, Capital Expenditure (CapEx) spend, warranty cost, Non-recurring expense (NRE) and ad-hoc operations claims.
  • Manage assigned manufacturing partners to program requirements in cost, quality, schedule and technology areas while support engineering and operations escalations and drive immediate performance improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain and Operations Management, Finance, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in multi-disciplined procurement, leading strategy development, execution and sourcing, or a related function.
  • 3 years of experience managing category strategies and sourcing teams across multiple categories for both goods and services in the indirect category space.

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced degree in business and industrial engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in consumer hardware product development and mass production.
  • Experience with connected devices, ambient computing, Ultra Wideband (UWB)/Long Term Evolution (LTE), and carrier business.
  • Ability to interpret and draft legal documents or experience of working with legal teams to complete legal agreements and commercial negotiations.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin and English fluently to support client relationship management in this region along with familiarity with international business customs.
