The Director of Procurement at Target leads a team of sourcing leads and professionals, providing direction, coaching, and career advice. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of sourcing leads and professionals, providing direction, coaching, and career advice.
  • Develop and design strategies in partnership with peers and leaders, and communicate the strategy to ensure full understanding, support, and alignment.
  • Drive clarity and consistency across teams, leaders, internal partners, and external partners.
  • Demonstrate authentic leadership with a primary focus on the development of talent and a diverse team culture.
  • Drive strategies around supplier relationships that matter the most and set expectations for tough negotiations with leveraged suppliers.
  • Manage and resolve disputes, both internally and externally, working with finance and legal where appropriate.
  • Provide instinctive analysis and synthesize information that reflects the requirements of the team.
  • Understand operational requirements of business partners / clients and act as a Trusted Advisor.
  • Develop strategic category plans and negotiation treatment direction.
  • Implement routines to proactively anticipate and minimize operational risks to Target’s supply base.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4-year college degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience directly or indirectly leading peers, leaders, and cross-functional partners
  • Expertise in sourcing and negotiations, and has led large, pyramid-spanning negotiations with strategic suppliers
  • Experience making business decisions quickly to deliver results and achieve goals
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with experience working directly with Sr. Leaders
  • Ability to build & maintain strong internal & external relationships quickly
  • Experience in public speaking and presenting
  • Growth mindset, with the ability to learn new programs & industries quickly
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule around sourcing events
