The Cardiac Sonographer at Novant Health is responsible for the daily operations of the echo lab, equipment maintenance, and quality improvement. Responsibilities

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience preferred
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer credentials RDCS or RCS (New Graduates will have 6 months to pass registry)
  • Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment
  • Ability to evaluate echocardiogram to acquire appropriate diagnostic information
  • Ability to shift workload to meet patient needs
  • Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum echocardiogram information in each examination performed
  • Ability to follow established departmental procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations
  • Thorough knowledge of echocardiography interpretation, echocardiography skills, and considerable echocardiography abilities
  • Communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs
  • Ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs

Preferred

  • 2 Year / Associate Degree
  • Graduate from a formal Cardiovascular Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs

Overview

PRN Cardiac Sonographers are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $1,000. (New Hires)

The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for daily operations of the echo lab, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality improvement. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the anatomy and pathology. The sonographer is proficient in performing simple and complex echocardiograms, not limited to other emergency or Cardiologist assisted procedures (i.e. pericardiocentesis, ect) pediatric echocardiograms, stress echo, and Transesophogeal. The sonographer should have knowledge in diagnostic digital images and hemodynamic data for physician interpretation. Work closely with Cardiologist to obtain optimal echocardiography quality. Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate from a formal Cardiovascular Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered Cardiac Sonographer, credentials RDCS or RCS (New Graduates will have 6 months to pass registry), required.
