  • Helps perform pre/post op calls, answer patient questions, and document patient experience.
  • May help front desk as needed.
  • Identifies issues and participates in process improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitates or leads huddles and various team meetings.

Qualifications

Required

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification
  • BLS Certification

  • Epic experience plus
  • 2+ years experience as a CMA
  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent

Pay Range: $17 - $19/hr.


Hybrid -470 Alliance Blvd., Suite 210, Plano, TX 75093


Duration: 3+ months - may be extended or hire in perm


Certifications required: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant & BLS Certified


Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8 hours shifts

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists in the delivery of health care for patients in a pre/post op and procedural setting.

Performs a wide variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, bringing patients back to preop and assisting in preparing for upcoming procedures, obtaining vital signs, and completing pre-op intake.

Facilitates assistance in circulating role for multiple procedure rooms to include helping to position patient for procedure, assist with placement of monitors and oxygen, chart inter-op notations, processing pathology samples, assisting with transport of patient to post-op.

May facilitate assistance in procedure room to prepare procedure table with required equipment and supplies, assist during procedure in handing off supplies, positioning patient, obtaining pathology samples, and other inter-op duties.

Assists in post-op by working in tandem with RNs to monitor post-op, take vital signs, start oral intake, ensure patients meet discharge criteria, help prepare to go home, transport patients to car, instruct patient ride on take home responsibilities.

Will help turn rooms over, make beds, load bed warmers, prepare patient bed packs, stock nutrition, pull/turnover laundry bags, monitor equipment temps, and other compliance requirements. Will be trained to assist with scope cleaning and other non-sterile supply procedures.

WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Make/Answer center calls: Take and relay messages, completes pre/post op calls, makes reminder calls as required.

Complete paperwork as needed including scanning, stamping, and filing as requested or required.

Ensure all charts and forms for DOS are ready and properly completed.

Takes direction from and works well with RNs to provide direct patient care.

ollect vital signs, including pulse oximetry BP, pulse, respirations, weight, height.

Monitor and remove IVs at RN direction. Collect all medical data as required pre/post op and intra op.

Ability to facilitate assistance to patient in position change, changing in/out of gown, and ambulating s/p procedure.

Arrange instruments and assist providers in exam and/or procedure room for endoscopic procedures.

Complete finger sticks, phlebotomy, assist with urine pregnancy tests, and complete specimen collection as required.

Prepare patients for examinations, prepare procedure table with appropriate equipment and supplies for MD to perform procedure.

Properly clean and prepare scopes after procedures.

Assist with stocking of supplies and inventory levels to ensure availability of necessary supplies, equipment and instruments, reorder as necessary and store appropriately.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

License and Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS)- Life Support Certification 30 days after expiration if required- Certified

Medical Assistant Experience Equivalencies

2 years experience as CMA preferred- H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent

Must Have : 2+ YRS Experience , HS-GED or Diploma, BLS Certification, CMA Preferred
