The Senior Solutions Architect III at Grainger Businesses is a senior technical leader responsible for setting the technology direction within Grainger's North American Supply Chain. Responsibilities

  • Gain a deep understanding of Grainger's Supply Chain business process and how they are implemented in Grainger's systems.
  • Advise on project and/or technical product ideas, determining their feasibility, conceptual solution options, impacts to people/process/technology and high-level costs.
  • Create end to end architecture designs for proposed projects/technical products ensuring that those designs meet business requirements and are scalable, fault tolerant, secure, performant and follow Grainger's architecture standards.
  • Present those designs to Grainger's Technical Architecture Governance Committee.
  • Advise software delivery teams on technical solution details and architecture best practices.
  • Maintain domain level architecture documentation including C4 diagrams, technology roadmaps and data products.
  • Present domain level technology roadmaps and key architecture tradeoffs to the CIO's leadership team.
  • Contribute to Architecture Governance practices including creation of technology standards and patterns.
  • Research current and emerging technologies, and propose their adoption as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience developing, designing, documenting, and implementing technology solutions according to modern architectural patterns.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Deep working knowledge of end-to-end warehouse or manufacturing processes.
  • Deep functional application knowledge of SAP S4 EWM, Stock Room Management and SAP S4 components supporting Supply Chain.
  • Experience running SAP environments in the cloud.
  • Proven experience designing custom solutions on SAP BTP and AWS or other cloud ecosystem.
  • Ability to reason between technical solution patterns articulating architectural tradeoffs between them.
  • Ability to present a complex technical topic in simple terms to leadership and large audiences.
  • Experience working on teams in a collaborative matrixed organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% within North America.

Position Details:

The Senior Solutions Architect (Supply Chain) is a senior technical leader that sets the technology direction within Grainger's North American Supply Chain. We are looking for individuals that can solve challenging business problems through technology, engineering, and leadership. This role collaborates with business functions, product/portfolio managers, other Architects, and technology delivery teams to identify, plan, design, and lead implementation of technology solutions within the order fulfilment, warehouse operations and yard management domains. This is a highly technical role requiring deep functional familiarity with the SAP ecosystem, building custom solutions in a cloud environment and integrations with warehouse automation OT technologies.

You will report to the Director, Solutions Architectire. This is a Chicago based role with potential to work remotely.

This position is salaried and will pay between $143,000 - $238,000 plus a 20% Annual Bonus and Stock Incentive Plan.

You will

  • Present those designs to Grainger's Technical Architecture Governance Committee.
  • Advise software delivery teams on technical solution details and architecture best practices.
  • Maintain domain level architecture documentation including C4 diagrams, technology roadmaps and data products.

  • Deep functional application knowledge of SAP S4 EWM, Stock Room Management and SAP S4 components supporting Supply Chain and how to leverage their new capabilities when transitioning from legacy EWM and ECC systems.
  • Experience running SAP environments in the cloud.
  • Proven experience designing custom solutions on SAP BTP and AWS or other cloud ecosystem.
  • Ability to reason between technical solution patterns articulating architectural tradeoffs between them.Present a complex technical topic in simple terms to leadership and large audiences.
  • Experience working on teams in a collaborative matrixed organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% within North America.
