Qualifications

Required

  • B.A. in English
  • 3 years of teaching experience, or its equivalent, preferably at the middle school level
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community
  • Expertise in differentiating instruction in reading and writing
  • Experience using academic technology software and classroom technology

Preferred

  • M.A. in English and/or education

Position: Middle/ Upper School English Teacher (Long term substitute)

The Baldwin School is seeking a long-term substitute Middle/ Upper School English teacher to teach three sections of Grade 7 English and one section of Grade 9 English for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. All Baldwin teachers participate in the life of the School and support the School's mission. Successful candidates will engage in those duties typical of independent school life, and will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education.

Successful candidates will enjoy working collaboratively with other grade-level teachers to develop innovative and engaging lessons to meet the needs of all learners. They will possess expertise in a range of literary genres and time periods, and be committed to seeking out new voices to include in their classes. Successful candidates will engage students positively, with a growth mindset, and interact productively with colleagues and parents.
