Qualifications

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
  • Minimum one-year delivery driving experience
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Flexibility of hours
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle operation and maintenance as well as road safety
  • Knowledge of proper food storage safety
  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as loaded hand carts, platform trucks, and grocery carts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Description

BASIC PURPOSE

The Food Pick-Ups Driver will be responsible for receiving food and other donated products from stores as well as deliver food boxes to clients who are home bound. The Driver will also deliver essential items to offsite locations for special events. The Driver will ensure that the vehicle and food storage areas are well maintained, clean, and safe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Operation

+ Pick-up, deliver and store food and supplies as needed (daily duty)

+ Bring donated food into pantry as needed, and maintain walk in fridge and freezer with food, as needed.

+ Organize and maintain all assigned food storage areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
