The Communications Specialist at Samaritas plays a crucial role in advancing the organization's mission through innovative communications and marketing initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, editing, and updating the content of communications printed publications (newsletters, brochures, flyers).
  • Assist in preparing, editing, and updating the content for our online presence (blog, e-news, calendars, social media platforms, etc.).
  • Make phone calls to clients and vendors to obtain information for the Creative Director.
  • Create and maintain Samaritas Ripple editorials monthly through HubSpot.
  • Manage web content through the DotNetNuke and WordPress platforms.
  • Interact with other Advancement team members and keep them informed on social/digital campaigns through Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
  • Lead engagement role on social media. Actively manage our social media presence by responding to comments in real-time and connecting with like-minded organizations and individuals to organically expand our reach and foster a vibrant online community.
  • Photograph and Film client-based testimonials.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in creative writing and designing a variety of communication tools (newsletters, brochures, and promotional materials).
  • Previous experience in working with multiple social media accounts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in DSLR Photography and Videography.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Premiere Pro and Photoshop preferred).
  • Proficient in WordPress, DotNetNuke or any other form of web design.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong oral and presentation skills; ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Graphic/web design experience (Knowledge of Blackbaud a plus).
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Experience with social media management (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn).
  • Basic Photography and photo editing skills.
  • Ability to shoot and edit video using a basic camera and video editing software.
  • Basic knowledge of WordPress.org/Wordpress.com and HTML/CSS.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge (or similar donor database) preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify opportunities and present recommendations based on analysis.

This position has a pay rate of $43,888 annually.

The Communications Specialist plays a pivotal role in driving our mission forward and generating impactful revenue for the organization. As a dynamic member of the Samaritas Advancement team, you will not only coordinate but also innovate across a spectrum of communications and marketing initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, you will harness your creativity and strategic thinking to craft compelling narratives and designs that resonate with our audiences. Your expertise will be essential in developing and executing communication strategies that elevate our brand presence and engage stakeholders effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities
