Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent work experience with strong medical knowledge background and strong administrative skills.
  • Experience working with pediatrics (preferred)
  • Experience working with educational programs or schools (preferred)
  • Basic CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Must possess strong communication, organizational, analytical and written skills.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have ability to interact positively with students, parents and other staff.

Essential Functions

The medical assistant will assist the school nurse in the health office. The incumbent will be student-centered and committed to a team approach to school-wide health and wellness. This position requires a high degree of interpersonal communication and organizational skills in addition to general medical assistant duties as well as clerical responsibilities. Experience in pediatric or community health is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
