The Investment Analyst at CareFirst is responsible for providing analytical support on various investment strategies and products for the reserve and pension portfolios.   • Support the Statutory and GAAP footnotes related to gain/loss, maturity, and concentration schedules.
  • Completion of all managers collected OTTI and other investment accounting information requests.
  • Assist in maintenance of portfolio analytics platform and provide ideas for effective use and business applications of platform.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field OR an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the degree.
  • 3 years related experience with a solid understanding of investment management and/or related functions.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting under GAAP, investment management framework and risk.
  • Strong understanding of systems, analytical tools, financial modeling, and data management.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data.

Preferred

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) CFA Level 1

**Resp & Qualifications**

**PURPOSE:**

The investment analyst is responsible for analytical support on a variety of investment strategies and products for the reserve and pension portfolios for the company and its subsidiaries. The incumbent supports the Company-wide Investment Risk, Portfolio and Accounting functions Responsible for continuous data collection and interpretation, such as company financial statements, price developments, currency adjustments and yield fluctuations. This position will also be responsible for investment fee budgeting and review of all expenses, as well as banking, broker and external manager relationship.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

+ Responsible for supporting the entire Investment Portfolio oversight which includes asset allocation, credit quality, compliance, monitoring of performance and investment manager selection for the externally managed Corporate and Retirement (Pension and 401(k)) assets including domestic equity, international equity, emerging market equities, core fixed income, TIPS, real assets, and private real estate. Coordinate trading, funds transfer and settlement activities. Perform investment administration duties including, but not limited to, completion of all account opening documents for reserve and pension accounts, maintenance and update of investment guidelines, collection and review of SSAE 16?s; SOC1 and corporate action forms.

+ Maintain investment reporting to ensure the accuracy and compliance of all investment portfolios. Support the Plan and forecast the organization?s Investment Income and Capital Gains using portfolio growth and yield modeling. Assist in the projection and monitoring of investment income on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Act as an interface to custodians, consultants and portfolio managers to execute trades, settle trades, review account activity and communicate investment guidelines or policy changes.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

**Education Level** : Bachelor's Degree Finance, Accounting, Business or related field OR In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

**Experience:** 3 years related experience with a solid understanding of investment management and/or related functions.

**Licenses/Certifications**

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) CFA Level 1 Preferred

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)**

+ Knowledge of financial reporting under GAAP, investment management framework and risk,

+ Strong understanding of systems, analytical tools, financial modeling, and data management.
