  • Familiarize with environmental issues affecting heavy metal industries, defense industries, chemical manufacturing, and/or maritime industries.

Qualifications

Required

  • JD degree
  • Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C. and any another state
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Prior law firm or agency experience
  • Background in environmental law, with level-appropriate experience in key environmental statutes and regulations
  • Concentrated experience in environmental litigation, defense of enforcement actions, and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with working with the EPA, NOAA, Fish and Wildlife, the DOI, and state agencies

**Summary**

DLA Piper is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Environmental Regulatory practice group. This position is open in our Washington, D.C. or other east coast offices.

**Education**

+ JD

**Bar Admission**

+ Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C. and any another state

**Experience**

+ Minimum 3 years of experience.

+ Prior law firm or agency experience.

**Job Competencies & Desired Skills**

+ Background in environmental law, with level-appropriate experience in key environmental statutes and regulations is required, including TSCA, FIFRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, RCRA, and analogous state laws and common law.

+ Concentrated experience in environmental litigation, defense of enforcement actions, and regulatory compliance.

+ Familiarity with working with the EPA, NOAA, Fish and Wildlife, the DOI, and state agencies is preferred.

**Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements**

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

**Work Environment**

+ Hybrid with a minimum of three days in-office expectations.

+ Some travel required.

**Pay Transparency**

The firm's expected hiring range for this position is $310,000 - $390,000 per year depending on the candidate's geographic market location.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate's experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
