The Systems Analyst V at the Texas Department of Transportation performs highly advanced computer systems analysis work in support of TxDOT District/Division information technology systems. Responsibilities

  • Supports the planning, design, developments, implementation, and management of PEPS Tableau and SharePoint initiatives (enterprise initiatives)
  • Oversees the evaluation of methods, tools, hardware and software used to improve the analysis, development, integration, implementation and maintenance of information systems
  • Oversee and/or prepare charts, diagrams, and tables that depict the present and proposed systems in terms of costs, benefits derived, and tasks accomplished
  • Coordinate and/or participate in the development and execution of enterprise-level strategies and technical direction, including establishing processes and procedures for executing and maintaining technology road maps
  • Coordinate projects that involve cross-functional agency systems
  • Creates new standard reports; collaborating with end users to gather report requirements and ensure proper testing and validation
  • Updates standard operating procedures and swimlanes
  • Designs, builds, tests, implements, and maintains both published and ad hoc reports in response to customer change requests
  • Analyzes new or existing procedures and information systems for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Oversees and/or prepares and defines the goals of the system and devises flow charts and diagrams describing logical operational steps of programs
  • Coordinates with users to identify system requirements, develop functional design specifications to meet requirements, and solve complex operational problems
  • Coordinates requests or completes user security changes or additions and facilitates security authorizations for new users
  • Reviews and analyzes reports and performance indicators to locate problems and corrects errors in a timely manner
  • Writes programs and/or queries for spreadsheet or database software to create reports and import/export data
  • Leading projects and project teams

Oversees technical support and advice involving the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of projects/programs and/or systems. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
