  • Maintain lab notebooks, updated daily and prepare ppt slide for monthly presentation as well as providing weekly summary report
  • Assisting with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as project goals are achieved
  • Participation in the publication and presentation at conferences/meetings
  • Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area
  • Responsible for the completion of required microbiology training/certification
  • Meets with faculty supervisor on regular basis to maintain ongoing communication regarding the progress and performance.

**Job Summary**

Undergraduate Research Assistant is responsible for assisting a post-doctoral fellow in culturing non-pathogenic bacterial strains, isolation and purification of small molecules and structural analysis The undergraduate researcher is expected to be familiarized with standard aseptic procedures in handling bacterial strains, various column chromatography techniques and HPLC . In addition to research activities, following are required: Documenting protocols, keeping lab notebook records upto date, summarizing results in written format weekly and monthly presentation in support of the research activities. The research activity is intended to provide the opportunity to learn as to how to conduct biomedical research and prepare the students for future graduate research upon UG completion.

Subject knowledge and oral/written communication skills to discuss and document research progress. Ability to work independently, accurately and to problem solves technical and methodological issues that arise during the course of the research. Ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology and logical critical analysis. Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
