Full Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mill Operator to join our team. The Mill Operator will be responsible for operating milling machinery to produce precision parts according to specifications.


Shifts:

B shift working Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

D shift working Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.


Duties

Work under the direction of an assigned Mill Operator. Receive run sheets and verbal instructions. Work to master the annealing process; setting up mills; welding; basic mill operations; such as wall changes, size changes, line marking; quality assurance, such as taking samples, destructive test procedures, end cut squareness, become familiar with potential surface imperfections (OD/ID), in a timely manner.

  • Make routine adjustments to mill and peripheral equipment, including adjusting seam location, and modifying temperature. Monitor and adjust straightener as required.
  • If applicable per your specific mill type, cut sample and conduct hardness test at prescribed intervals, adjust annealing accordingly.
  • Maintain record of hardness tests and annealing adjustments. Take periodic micrometer readings of strip material and record measurements on strip thickness record sheet.
  • Use pin gauges and micrometer to measure ID and OD of tubing. Visually inspect welds by using band saw to cut tubing, flatten and bend, set test sample aside. Review all test results with Mill Operator.
  • Perform various post tube manufacturing processes to include but not limited to cutting and deburring tubing, water testing coils and re-cutting straight lengths off the mills.
