The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at AdventHealth Altamonte Springs is responsible for performing Radiographic Imaging procedures independently, including handling, preparing, calculating dosage, and administering radionuclides and interventional medications under the direction of a radiologist or cardiologist. Responsibilities

  • Identifies patients by using AdventHealth's approved guidelines to confirm patient/exam accuracy before continuing with patient examination.
  • Reviews and ensures physician request meets clinically valid exam indicator requirements.
  • Prepares appropriate radionuclide for procedure, explains procedure to patient, and aseptically administers radionuclide using universal BSI principles.
  • Ensures equipment has met all quality control requirements and performs patient examination utilizing age-specific care techniques in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Evaluates image quality to insure good technical and diagnostic detail.
  • Presents completed exam and any patient historical data to radiologist/cardiologist for review.
  • Assists with image manipulation or additional imaging as requested.
  • Assists patient with dressing, answering any questions the patient may have regarding their exam and expectations of results, and releases patient with directions to exit the hospital if needed.
  • Performs a wide range of Nuclear Medicine procedures demonstrating proficiency with camera acquisition and computer processing in assigned area.
  • Learns and adapts to new technology and helps develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current valid State of Florida license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - CMNT OR ARRT-N (American Registration of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred

  • Associate’s degree or higher in health science related field

The role you’ll contribute:

Nuclear Medicine Technologist will be responsible for performing Radiographic Imaging procedures independently.

Handles, prepares, calculates dosage and administers radionuclides and interventional medications under the direction of a

radiologist or cardiologist. Maintains records in accordance with departmental and state requirements. Assists the

radiation safety officer as needed. Responsible for patient transportation to imaging room. Will position patient

appropriately to obtain quality diagnostic images that are delivered to radiologist for interpretation via PACS system by

technologist. Responsible to assist Radiologist for any required procedure. Will perform clerical duties and assist in

radiology department as needed. Performs basic patient care within scope of practice and to departmental standards.

Responsibility to adhere to the Corporate Compliance plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal

agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.

Assists patient with dressing, answering any questions the patient may have regarding their exam and expectations of results, and releases patient with directions to exit the hospital if needed. Minimum qualifications :

· Current valid State of Florida license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist

· Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - CMNT OR

· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
