Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, concerns, or grievances and make recommendations for resolution.

  • Advise leaders on performance management strategies, including coaching, disciplinary actions, and termination procedures.
  • Assist in developing and refining performance improvement plans (PIPs) and ensure consistent application across departments.
  • Support HR initiatives, including employee engagement, retention, and recognition programs.
  • Lead the exit interview process for the organization.
  • Act as a culture and engagement champion for the organization.
  • Manage the Employee Relations and HR Compliance portion of the HR ticketing system to ensure a 2-day resolution time for all employee tickets.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and handbook in alignment with legal requirements and company objectives.
  • Conduct audits and reviews to ensure adherence to HR policies, including proper documentation and procedural compliance.
  • Serve as the HR key point of contact for all organizational audits.
  • Collaborate with external legal partners to assess risk and address potential legal issues related to employment practices.
  • Manage the company's OIG background check process.
  • Manage the company's employee filing and retention system.
  • Partner with Learning and Development to develop and deliver training programs related to HR policies, handbook, employment law, safety, and workplace ethics.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of HR experience, specifically in employee relations and HR compliance in a company with 500 - 1000 employees
  • 2+ years of experience leading an HR team responsible for employee relations and compliance
  • Strong understanding of employment law and experience conducting workplace investigations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus

As the Employee Relations and HR Compliance Manager with EMS|MC, you will:

Employee Relations

Training
  • Partner with Learning and Development to develop and deliver training programs related to HR policies, handbook, employment law, safety, and workplace ethics.
  • Partner with the Learning and Development and HR Business Partner teams to provide training and support on employee relations, compliance, and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Stay updated on legal trends and changes in labor laws, and proactively recommend necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.

Leadership
  • Lead, guide, and motivate team members to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
  • Assign tasks, set performance goals, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees on their performance.
  • Support the professional development of team members by identifying training needs and facilitating opportunities for skill enhancement.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members regarding expectations, responsibilities, and company goals.

Requirements

You will be successful in this role if you:
