  • Experience with coding/auditing multi-specialty accounts, including Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Orthopedics, OBGYN, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, and Hospitalists.
  • Convey audit results to management.
  • Schedule audit meetings with the coder/auditor to discuss results and provide strategies to improve accuracy if necessary.
  • Use relevant policies, procedures, and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently, multi-task, problem solve and make informed and accurate recommendations to medical professionals.
  • Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Maintain productivity standards for assigned work types and uphold company accuracy scores.

Qualifications

Required

  • Certified coder (AAPC, AHIMA) required
  • Minimum of 3 years of coding experience
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
  • Thorough understanding of codebook resources; CPT, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM

Preferred

  • RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPMA or CEMC preferred
  • Inpatient ProFee experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Medent, Healthpac, NextGen and Epic desired

Practice Resources, LLC (PRL) seeks a full-time Remote Internal Medical Coding Auditor.
Job Description:
  • Review medical documentation from physicians and other healthcare providers to validate modifiers, diagnostic and procedure codes for symptoms, diseases, injuries, surgeries and treatments according to official classification systems and standards submitted by certified medical coders and coding auditors.
  • Experience with coding/auditing multi-specialty accounts, including and not limited to Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Orthopedics, OBGYN, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, and Hospitalists.
  • Internal Auditor will convey audit results to management. Management and the internal auditor will schedule audit meetings with the coder/auditor to discuss results and provide strategies to improve accuracy if necessary.
  • Certified medical coding specialist would thoroughly understand National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and relative value units as appropriate for the role.
  • Uses relevant policies, procedures, and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate with RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPMA or CEMC preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of coding experience
  • Inpatient ProFee experience preferred
  • Have a thorough knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology

  • Possess excellent communication skills
