The Actuarial Intern at EquiTrust will support product development, pricing, and product management activities for various financial products.   • Stays current on competitor actions, such as rate changes, specials, and incentives.
  • Collects and analyzes data for assigned project(s). Performs experience studies and presents findings.
  • Uses problem-solving skills to research and resolve issues.
  • Supports the Actuarial team and other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university or college pursuing a degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Preferred

  • Preference is given to actuarial students that have passed at least one Actuarial exam (through the Society of Actuaries).

Full Job Description

The Actuarial Intern will support product development, pricing, and product management activities for index annuities, fixed annuities, and life insurance. The Actuarial Intern will also assist with evaluating and tracking competitor products and industry trends. Essential duties will include performing analysis, producing reports, and supporting system testing efforts. In addition, the Actuarial Intern will work closely with other actuaries and analysts in one or more typical Actuarial functional areas, including risk management, modeling, and financial reporting.

  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize workflows, establish and meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of situations and respond to change in a positive manner.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to navigate multiple systems and programs including Microsoft Office, proprietary systems, and other technology solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including a high degree of professionalism.

Training or Work Experience:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university or college pursuing a degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics required.
