  • Perform other tasks as assigned by legal team members
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams in connection with the foregoing

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal operations, commercial operations, and compliance
  • Understanding of and experience with CLM, CRM, project management, entity management, billing, legal knowledge, data room and similar legal technologies
  • Strong, clear and to-the-point communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability and availability to work at least two (2) days a week in-office at the company's Beverly, MA headquarters
  • Bachelors degree
  • Eligible to work in the United States (visa support not provided)

Summary:

We are looking for a Legal Operations Manager to join our growing legal team. First and foremost, this role will develop and implement strategies for the legal team, as well as cross-functional, to accelerate and effectively manage our commercial workflows. The role will also include day-to-day operations to help manage customer pipeline, financial closings and related due diligence, and compliance matters.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of legal operations experience. We are not seeking attorney applicants in this role, however a comfort level around commercial contracts is necessary to develop an understanding of our products and ultimately be successful. Prior experience at businesses that sell to government or that provide energy or financial service services is a plus.

The candidate will work in fast-paced startup environment and will be comfortable taking on an array of matters. As a dynamic and fast-growing company in a relatively new space, it is common for the roles and responsibilities of our team members to change over time. However, the primary focus in this role will be to support the legal team and our internal clients to drive better processes (and results) by leveraging technologies and integrating complex cross department workflows.

Additional Responsibilities May Include:
    • Coordinate with legal team members to develop training and reference resources - and identify appropriate technology platforms to share resources - for internal clients on recurring legal issues and legal developments;
    • Support legal team knowledge management with research and document repositories;
    • Develop contract approval processes with legal and business team members;
    • Continuously assess and improve legal processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness;
    • Work with other departments to update document management practices and folders;
    • Support document confidentiality, retention, and similar internal document management policies;
    • Handle discovery processes; and
    • Find ways to support Highland and its employees using your unique skillset and background.
