  • Implements and maintains data center hardware equipment.
  • Acts as a technical resource for implementation of monitoring projects.
  • Enhances functionality of systems by developing and modifying scripts to automate system processes.
  • Provides effective Level II support in accountable areas.
  • Provides support to application developers/programmers by providing technical knowledge and guidance.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least five years of Server Administration and troubleshooting experience.
  • At least three years of VMWare admin experience.
  • Strong implementation and administrative experience with monitoring suites - SolarWinds Orion preferred.
  • Strong administrative experience with virtualization, servers, and databases.
  • Strong ability to write new and troubleshoot existing scripts in various languages.
  • Thorough understanding of networks, servers, and applications.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to generate meaningful reports from various data sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to work weekends and after business hours.
  • Must have the ability to position self to maintain computers and network equipment.

TTI, Inc. is looking for a Systems Administrator II at our Corporate office in Northwest Fort Worth, TX.

The Systems Administrator II, within our Open Systems team, is responsible for all systems monitoring using SolarWinds, Administration of VMware and virtual server instances. The Systems Administrator II implements and maintains data center hardware systems, backup systems and storage infrastructure. The Systems Administrator II handles assignments of a complex nature and provides guidance and direction to the Systems Administrator I.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manages, performance tunes and supports Nutanix environment running VMware using vSphere 7 and above. Acts as a Technical resource for hyper-converged infrastructure projects. Supports v-motions, replication, host clustering and high availability for these systems. Ensures VMware and hyper-converged environments are up to date for versions, patching and firmware revisions, as necessary.
  • Ensures optimal performance and security compliance of Windows servers by proactively conducting ongoing performance monitoring, patching and tuning/adjusting as necessary. Performs advanced operating systems troubleshooting when required.
  • Administers, maintains and monitors backup and data protection systems on a daily basis. This includes ensuring all required systems are backed up per backup policy and performing timely data restores as necessary.
  • Implements and maintains data center hardware equipment such as server hosts, storage and backup infrastructure and completes new installations and hardware retirements as necessary.
  • Acts as a technical resource for implementation of monitoring projects and ensures optimal Solarwinds configurations. Creates optimal Solarwinds infrastructure in support of new monitoring requirements by researching and recommending configurations technologies in support of application and hardware requirements.
  • Enhances functionality of systems by developing and modifying scripts to automate system processes. Experienced Power Shell user, shell scripts or other automation tools.
  • Ensure service performance meets or exceeds business expectations and is delivered in accordance with SLAs.
  • Provides effective Level II support in accountable areas. When scheduled for on-call 24/7 support is required when necessary. Support includes researching, analyzing issues and requests related to server hardware, server software and application related implications. This includes effectively communicating with all impacted parties and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with a sense of urgency to minimize any system downtime.
  • Provides support to application developers/programmers by providing technical knowledge and guidance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least five years of Server Administration and troubleshooting experience required.
  • At least three years of VMWare admin. experience is required.

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Strong implementation and administrative experience with monitoring suites - SolarWinds Orion preferred.
  • Strong administrative experience with virtualization, servers, and databases such as: VMware 7.0, Windows Server, and MS SQL.
  • Strong ability to write new and troubleshoot existing scripts in languages such as Power Shell, UNIX/Linux shell, Perl, and perform standard to complex queries against database resources.
  • Thorough understanding of how information m around networks, servers, appliances, and other devices. This should include, but not be limited to, servers, VMware, network switches and routers, firewall, and proxy services.
  • Strong analytical ability with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand documentation and procedures pertaining to the operation of networks, servers, and applications.
  • Ability to generate meaningful reports from various data sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style.
  • Ability to work weekends and after business hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to position self to maintain computers and various network equipment in the buildings, including under desks, in the server rooms, and anywhere cabling installation and maintenance.

  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to perceive and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Detect and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; converse in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
