  • Review and control vendor-supplied engineering documents

Qualifications

Required

  • Completed Sophomore level minimum in a Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree program
  • Experience or training on 3D modeling CAD software - SolidWorks preferred

Full Job Description

Kreg Tool is seeking a Product Development Intern for Summer 2025. The internship will take place over the summer months and last approximately 12 weeks from May to August, with flexible start and end dates. You will be paid a competitive hourly rate for the internship. In addition, many interns may receive academic credit for their work through their college or university.

What You'll Do:

Kreg's Product Engineering group designs exciting new woodworking tools and jigs that make building projects more approachable to a wide variety of beginner, intermediate, and professional woodworkers. The Product Development Engineer Intern role will be a member of a collaborative team that defines and develops products from concept through production while working with the Product Management, Project Management, Supply Chain, and internal/external manufacturers.

So, What's the Gig?
  • Participate in ideation and concepting of products aimed at solving our customer's needs
  • Assist with the development and design of components and assemblies of consumer hand tools, including 3D solid modeling, prototyping, and testing of new ideas and products
  • Generate product specifications and conduct or coordinate performance testing during development and production to verify function, quality, and safety of a product
  • Ensure design documentation is accurate, and kept up to date, while driving design standardization across all product lines.
  • Participate in teams whose mission is to reduce cost of existing products or increasing production throughput through via design improvements and simplification
  • Works with Product Managers to develop technical design requirements
  • Supports internal and external manufacturing during initial trials and production
  • Participates in continuous improvement teams and/or problem-solving teams
  • Interface with internal and external customers regarding technical performance issues
  • Review and control vendor-supplied engineering documents

What We're Looking For:
  • Completed Sophomore level minimum in a Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree program
  • Experience or training on 3D modeling CAD software - SolidWorks preferred
  • Previous internship experience desirable
