The Accounts Payable Specialist at APA is responsible for processing all cash disbursements to vendors, members of governance, award recipients, and employee reimbursements in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Track and reconcile accounts payable, prepaid accounts, and accruals.
  • Assist as needed for audit and/or information requests.
  • Process payables for related entities.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
  • Handle other ad hoc requests as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a business discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing) or 1 year related experience.
  • 5 years of experience in accounts payable may be substituted for degree.
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in the use of accounting software, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

Note: APA operates on a 37.5-hour work week with one hour lunch breaks each day. APA sets salaries based on several considerations, including years of relevant experience, level of education, and previous staff and/or governance experience at APA.

Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing all cash disbursements to vendors, members of governance, award recipients and employee reimbursements in accordance with established policies and procedures and best practices. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring that requests for payment are valid, accurate, charged to the appropriate account, properly authorized, sufficiently supported, and paid timely.

The Specialist must be very familiar with APA policies and act as an enforcer of those policies.

Education & Experience Required:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a business discipline, i.e. Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing and 1 year related experience. 5 years of experience in accounts payable may be substituted for degree.

Experience: Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles, to include bank and ledger account reconciliations. Must understand the importance of compliance with internal and external policies and regulations, and the importance of good customer service.

Computer Skills Required:

Must be proficient in the use of accounting software, Microsoft Word and Excel.
