The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Good Samaritan Society provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. - Ensure the health, comfort and safety of residents.
- Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with resident, health care providers, and the public.
- Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Counsel residents, family members and/or resident advocate on prevention and treatment plans.
- Develop a self-care program based on resident education principles.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- Completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing if position requires IV therapy/management skills.
- Attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility.
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.

If position requires IV therapy/management skills, the following is required in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements.
Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.
