Job Summary

The Lead Mechanical Engineer plays a key role from the initial quote to when the final completed product ships out to the customer.

You will drive the design of both highly customized and standardized products and own the associated BOMs & routings. This includes preliminary engineering at the quoting stage, detailed 3D design in SolidWorks, generating drawings for customer approval and production team use, and collaborating across departments to ensure a high quality final product reaches the customer.

We are looking for a practical-minded engineer who enjoys taking products from concept to full production and takes pride in their work. You will be working with raw materials like sheet metal, metal rod, bearings, bolts, castings, etc. and creating a finished assembly ready to be inserted into a production line.

The role is expected to have a direct report with the potential to manage a growing team as IGE executes on its growth plan. This is a great entry point for growth towards deep technical expertise while building a general business skillset that can lead towards the general manager path.

  • Evaluating existing products for re-design, reliability, improved function, or value engineering
  • Supporting the production team with detailed, easy to understand drawings and addressing challenges with manufacturability
  • Reverse engineering equipment for the purposes of rebuild/repair and assessing condition of equipment returned for rebuild
