The Test Technician at Solo Brands will support Product Development by fabricating, testing, and troubleshooting prototypes and samples. This role involves designing and implementing test methods to ensure product performance, reliability, and quality throughout their lifecycle, from prototypes to mass production. Responsibilities

  • Fabricate functional and cosmetic prototype models for team evaluation.
  • Build concepts with various components and raw materials using hand tools and machinery.
  • Construct engineering lab test fixtures.
  • Conduct sample and prototype evaluation and hands-on concept testing.
  • Source and track outside prototyping services as needed.
  • Manage prototype supplies and material inventory.
  • Design, acquire and build a full in-house test lab, primarily focusing on performance, reliability and efficacy of our products.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe workshop and test lab.
  • Create test methods, define test procedures for standardized and repeatable testing outcomes, also developing new unique testing capabilities.
  • Create new methods and standards to validate performance and reliability of products in the lab but also in a real-world environment.
  • Build a claims substantiation database based on ongoing results, improvements and findings.
  • Partake in design reviews with project engineers, designers and marketing personnel.
  • Perform root cause analysis, assist in identification of corrective actions.
  • Maintain organized data, test reports, and action items.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years in a test lab and/or workshop environment
  • Sheet metal fabrication and welding experience is a plus.
  • Experience measuring, collecting, organizing and presenting test data.
  • Requires basic working knowledge of electronics, motors, switches, and wiring.
  • Requires strong working knowledge of prototyping techniques and natural craftsmanship abilities.
  • Strong ability to understand and complete technical projects based on drawings, sketches and verbal communication.
  • Creative and analytical, yet practical in problem solving with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in the hands-on assembly and construction of prototypes and disassembly/evaluation of competitive products.
  • Positive approach; strong team player; strong work ethic; high integrity; sense of urgency; self-motivation and driven for results.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Data-driven with excellent problem-solving skills.

The Model Shop & Test Technician will play a crucial role in supporting Product Development by fabricating, testing, and troubleshooting prototypes and samples. This position requires an inventive and mechanically skilled individual with strong organizational and time management abilities. Responsibilities include designing and implementing test methods to ensure the performance, reliability, and quality of products, throughout their lifecycle from prototypes to mass production. The role also involves creating product concepts and setting up testing capabilities, acquiring equipment, and creating processes in the lab, while working collaboratively across various disciplines to validate designs and resolve technical issues.

Other Requirements:


  • On-site in our Grapevine location.
  • No regular travel requirements.
  • Requires a flexible work schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Requires the ability to work outside and with hot equipment / fire pits.
