Responsibilities

  • Researching, selecting, and purchasing quality products and materials.
  • Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating for the best pricing.
  • Processing requisitions and updating management on status of orders.
  • Updating inventory and ensuring that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Arranging transport of goods and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Create all assigned purchase orders.
  • Track all orders from the supplier and monitor the progress of critical or longer lead time orders.
  • Create internal process to report out to team daily.
  • Expedite orders with direction from management.
  • Measure On Time Delivery - address negative trends with OTD.
  • Conduct quarterly vendor risk assessment meetings with internal team and post findings.
  • Research additional sources, validate and approve with engineering and quality and develop a sourcing strategy that ensures a primary and secondary supplier for all outside process services.
  • Achieve cost savings/productivity and review open issues weekly.
  • Be the purchasing point of contact for all issues with suppliers.
  • Coordinate outside processing shipments and receipts with the receiving department daily and notify team of job completion and pick-up availability.
  • Responsible for updating purchasing information daily on the War Room board.
  • Conduct at a quarterly supplier visit.
  • Back up for Senior Buyer.

Summary/Objective

Responsible for procuring materials and supplies needed for production, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing, maintaining vendor relationships, and analyzing market trends to secure the best prices.
