The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Chief Administrative Officer Justin P. Forkner, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.

Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $ 55,000 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

About the Job:

This position serves as Accountant 1 - Budget and Accounting with the Indiana Supreme Court's Fiscal Division.

A Day in the Life:

Prepares various financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Coordinates meetings with Budget and Accounting Manager, Controller, CFO and/or Division Directors to review analysis, program changes impacting the budget, and contract/vendor issues. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls, securing financial information, and maintaining historical records. Reviews monthly budget variance and general ledger reports to ensure items are being charged to the correct programs and contracts/vendors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

+ Perform quarterly budget reviews (QBRs) with the Budget and Accounting Manager, Controller, CFO and/or Division Director; discuss year-to-date budget vs actual for operating accounts

+ Manage multiple Funds and Department budgets and verify purchase requests are coded to the correct chartfields and processed accurately and in a timely manner

+ Process Journal Entries to move or correct expenditures

+ Serve as an Agency Program Administrator for the Court's Purchasing and Travel cards, monitoring transactions to ensure the cards are used properly and processed in a timely manner

+ Serve as the primary contact for employee reimbursements, providing instruction and feedback to court employees entering Travel Authorization and Expense reports

+ Perform financial statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes

+ Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures established by the Indiana Supreme Court, the Comptroller of Indiana, and the State Board of Accounts

+ Assist employees in understanding policy and procedures

+ Assist in drafting policies and practices to instruct staff in best practices and requirements

+ Escalate potential financial risks to appropriate management

+ Develop and maintain good working relationships with representatives from Indiana State Budget Agency and State Comptroller's Office

+ Support Fiscal division in other financial related activities, such as generating reports
