Qualifications

Required

  • Able and willing to work on-site and in-person.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 8 years of shipping and receiving experience with machinery in an industrial environment or grain elevator.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel) preferred.

Preferred

  • Associates degree in a related technical field.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with the operation of front-end loaders, forklift trucks, rail movers, man lifts, and related material handling equipment.

Full Job Description

**Description:**

Responsible for unloading raw materials and loading ethanol and distiller's grain, as well as the movement of trucks and rails cars on the plant site. Ensure maximum production quantity and quality while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. This position supervises the team of Shipping & Receiving Operators and is responsible for overseeing the shipping and receiving systems of the plant.

* Supervises team of Shipping & Receiving Operators and ensures that training is completed so that movement of product can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
* Develops operator knowledge and skills in key areas, safe work policies and practices via training, mentoring and operator qualification process.
Participates in the hiring process.
* Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the department and ensures that all personnel are trained on the most updated version of standard operating procedures.
* Reviews the operation of receiving equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtown, anticipates and solves problems in a timely manner, and identifies opportunities for improvement.
* Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
* Maintains records on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis of key variables in the department.
* Maintains and calibrates testing equipment.
* Prepares reports, analyzes data and makes recommendations for improving material handling operations or solving problems in the area.
Maintains safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
* Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the department are met at all times.
* Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of safety for all departmental personnel.
* Communicates with the QA/QC Laboratory to ensure effective participation by the material handling team in the implementation of QA/QC policies and procedures.
* Communications with the Maintenance department to facilitate the maintenance and repair of equipment in the receiving area.
* Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
* Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
* Assists with receiving of chemicals and supplies for the process, maintenance, and other areas of the plant.
* Supervises all processes associated with corn receiving, corn storage, product storage, unloading, and loading.
* Monitors the use and inventories of corn, working with the Manager - Grains Procurement to maintain adequate supply
* Communicates with the Operations department to coordinate effective receiving operations.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

**Qualifications:**
* Able and willing to work on-site and in-person, required.
* High School diploma or GED required.
* 8 years of shipping and receiving experience that includes prior experience working with machinery in an industrial environment or grain elevator required.
* Associates degree in a related technical field preferred.
* Supervisory experience preferred.
* Experience with the operation of front-end loaders, forklift trucks, rail movers, man lifts, and related material handling equipment preferred.
* Experience using Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word and Excel) preferred.
