The Maintenance Technician I at Techtronic Industries North America, Inc. is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical failures, performing preventive maintenance, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic systems using schematics and technical drawings.
  • Repair Injection molding machines, robots, fixtures, and other auxiliary equipment related to the injection molding process.
  • Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment.
  • Identify and requisition needed replacement parts and supplies.
  • Work with other mechanics, production personnel, engineers and outside vendors and/or consultants as necessary.
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Complete repairs timely and safely.
  • Report repairs at end of shift.
  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts and material usage.
  • Understand and follow plant safety practices and safe machine operation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 8 years related experience and/or training in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic & electrical schematics
  • Ability to troubleshoot automation PLC controls
  • Ability to operate lathes, milling machines, welders, and other shop equipment
  • General knowledge of safe working practices including Lock-Out/Tag Out
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to interpret complex situations and execute actions and plans
  • Excellent project management skills - ability to manage timelines and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work in a cross functional organization

Preferred

  • Maintenance Certification
  • Excellent skills in working with interdisciplinary groups (Injection Molding, Tool Room, QA, MFG, etc.)
  • Practical and academic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and tools
  • Maintenance experience with Nissei, Van Dorn, Milacron and Haiten injection molding machines

**Working conditions:**

Position is located at our Cookeville, TN manufacturing facility. This facility is heated and cooled. Employee will be working with and near moving mechanical parts.

**Physical requirements:**

Candidate must be able to identify and distinguish colors, stand for long periods of time, lift/carry up to 35 lbs., reach hands and arms in any directions and kneel/stoop repeatedly. A drug screen is required prior to employment. A physical may also be required as employment terms.
