Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, an internationally recognized leader in research and clinical excellence, is seeking an Echo Technologist I to operate ultrasound equipment and perform a variety of technical diagnostic procedures in the specialty area of Echocardiography. This role involves performing 2D/Doppler echocardiograms, Pharmacological and TMT stress echocardiograms, and assisting with Transesophageal echocardiograms. The position is focused on advancing standards in healthcare through a transformative alliance and a powerful network of care.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasound diagnostic imaging on patients according to specific departmental procedure protocols
  • Prepares equipment ensuring that equipment is operational, safe and functioning
  • Ensures that daily equipment and room maintenance is performed after each procedure
  • Completes all quality checks and ensures that equipment logs are maintained
  • Completes all clinical supply inventory
  • Actively participates with patient testing, performing routine, non-routine, urgent, and emergent patient requests
  • Communicates with Patient Transportation, Nursing Units, Physician Offices, and other diagnostic areas
  • Performs portable examinations at the bedside to ensure patient safety and provide immediate diagnostic testing when needed
  • Assists with patient scheduling when required
  • Ensures that patient orientation, preparation and teaching are provided
  • Provide specific diagnostic test information to the patient
  • Obtain patient history according to specific departmental procedural protocol
  • Complete processing diagnostic tapes, Worksheets, and completing supporting documentation of logs
  • Notify referring physician, cardiology fellow, Medical Director and/or pertinent Medical Staff with any diagnostic findings which warrant communication
  • Provide post-care and education to the patient
  • Complete patient visit by ensuring that patient has been discharged safely
  • Assist with departmental quality monitoring
  • Participate in new equipment evaluation

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's Degree OR one year certificate from a health related program in a related medical field, which include seminar course training in cardiac ultrasound preferred
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer by American Diagnostic Registry for Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • BLS Certification

**Position Summary:**

Operates ultrasound equipment and Performs a variety of technical diagnostic procedures which encompass the specialty area of Echocardiography. Must be able to perform 2D/Doppler echocardiograms, Pharmacological and TMT stress echocardiograms and assist with Transesophageal echocardiograms.

+ Administer contrast agents, including saline contrast

$30.55 - $44.30 /hour
