  • Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to adapt to changing priorities and assignments.
  • Experience capturing key characteristics & requirements for systems.
  • Must be a self-starter, quick learner, and able to function in a dynamic environment with good time management skills.
  • Strong teaming skills and good communication skills.
  • Proficient at one or more of Aircraft Structures Design, Ground Structures Design, Electronics Packaging, or Platform Integration

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related STEM degree program

Preferred

  • Design, integration, or test experience/understanding of any combination.
  • Prototyping and agile methodology (quick turn solutions).

Job Description:

  • Operational Technology and Engineering is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development of advanced airborne systems including podded communication link and sensor systems, airborne armament equipment, alternate mission equipment, cockpit displays, avionics, and radar systems.
  • Additionally, this role will support the integration of new and existing systems onto airborne, shipborne, and ground vehicles. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of new products and test hardware, as well as the improvement of existing products. The engineer will utilize their mechanical engineering expertise during the proposal and concept evaluation, product development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design.
  • The engineer will create design solutions that meet product requirements using 3-D CAD modeling software and will be hands- on supporting production, integration, and testing. The engineer will develop solutions which leverage commercial off the shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware.
  • The engineer must be capable of researching and distilling information from vendors and collating information. The engineer shall perform design reviews, equipment integration, profiling, and testing. The engineer will provide leadership on mechanical issues to the project team, working closely with systems, electrical, and test engineers.
