  • Submit daily documentation, reports, and attend production hand off meetings.
  • Coordinate with shipping and receiving supervisor for storage of finished goods.
  • Verify all quality check sheets and maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and minimum 3 years' experience in supervisory and manufacturing or related experience.
  • Ability to provide positive and effective communications, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of production methods and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to pass forklift training and certification.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel at an intermediate level; PowerPoint a plus.

United Rotary Brush is a Olathe, Kansas based manufacturer of specialty industrial brushes for the airport, road construction, street sweeping and plow industries. Our Olathe, KS, manufacturing facility (off Old 56 Highway and K7) is looking for a Production Supervisor for our Weekend Day Shift. Production Supervisor Summary

This role will plan, supervise, guide, coach and direct production activities within the plant.

Production Supervisor Duties & Responsibilities

Safety
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining safety standards as required by law and company policy.

Leadership/Supervision
  • Provide training and coaching, conduct performance evaluations.
  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, and developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Train new operators to perform job functions, including the setup and changeover of each machine. Retrain operators as needed.
  • Assign work for shift employees and ensure that all employees adhere to proper use of time.
  • Maintain the schedule of breaks and lunches.
  • Determine hiring needs and work with Human Resources to meet staffing needs.
  • Promptly address employee relation issues directly, or with the assistance of, the Production Manager and/or Human Resources.
  • Hold employees accountable using short interval follow-up - perform root cause analysis and remove performance barriers.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Coordinate temporary help as needed and submit all necessary paperwork.

Production
  • Manage the setting of work schedules, and provide support to departmental goals and expectations.
  • Daily startup walkthrough of all machinery and ensure all machinery is in proper working order.
  • Strive to reduce all machine down time, improve machine output and operator efficiency.
  • Assist in the development of new and improved manufacturing techniques, tooling and equipment, to improve product quality, effectiveness and employee safety.
  • Make recommendations for updating the processes at each workstation as setups are revised.
  • Assure work orders are complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Submit daily documentation, reports and attend production hand off meetings.
  • Coordinate with shipping and receiving supervisor for storage of finished goods being produced.
  • Verification of material produced and correct packaging by work order.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of production area; promote and lead 5S initiatives.

Quality
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Assist and support machine operators, quality and maintenance as needed.
  • Apply working knowledge of product specifications and quality compliance.
  • Verify all quality check sheets.

Production Supervisor Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of education and minimum 3 years' experience previous supervisory and manufacturing or related experience required.
  • The incumbent must be able to provide positive and effective communications, both verbal and written, to managers, production team, and co-workers including other maintenance staff regarding status, needs and recommendations to ensure the operating condition of equipment.

Production Supervisor Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of production methods, lean manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, Standard work), documentation, data tracking and analysis, and operations management.
  • Must be able to effectively motivate and lead a production team to meet/exceed production standards.
  • Ability to work with basic office computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel at an intermediate level; PowerPoint a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to pass forklift training and certification.
