  • Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control
  • Secure history from patients and record on appropriate form for radiologist
  • Perform c-arm and portables in the ASC and Pain Clinic, keeping patient care in mind
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize PACS and EMR, including logging into PACS and retrieving studies
  • Carry out the QC process for the images in PACS
  • Participate in professional development, including departmental meetings and CME credits
  • Contribute to performance goals of department and participate in QC/QA testing

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of AMA approved school/program of Radiologic Technology
  • Knowledge of radiology procedures and equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in multiple programs
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and CPR Certification within 3 months
  • Licensed by Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)

Preferred

Major Responsibilities:

    • 1)Ability to competently position patients for all exams

    • 10)Surgical: For c-arm cases, sends key images to PACS
  • Delivery of patient care
    • 1)Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control; i.e., implementation of immobilization devices as necessary for patient safety and comfort
    • 2)Secures history from patients and records on appropriate form for radiologist
    • 3)Ability to perform c-arm and portables in the ASC, while keeping patient care in mind.
    • 4)Ability to perform c-arm cases in Pain Clinic, while keeping patient care in mind.
    • 5)Surgical: Documents Pain Clinic and ASC cases as required
  • PACS, EMR and other Software
    • 1)Demonstrates the ability to arrive, begin and end studies in the EMR.
    • 2)Demonstrates the ability to utilize Modality Work list/or select patient in Modality, acquire and send images from the modality to PACS
    • 3)Demonstrates the ability to log into PACS and retrieve the appropriate study.
    • 4)Carries out the QC process for the images in PACS.
    • 5)Selects the correct buttons for prior exams and availability.
    • 6)Determines if pertinent priors are available in PACS.
    • 7)Ensures the image link is available and working in the EMR.
    • 8)Notifies PACS Admin or Assistant of any issues not able to resolve.
    • 9)General troubleshooting- ie. splitting and merging studies, changing accession numbers.
    • 10)Ability to use IPAD interpretation services
  • Participates in professional development
    • 1)Attends and participates in departmental meetings
    • 2)Maintains required amount of CME credits
    • 3)Maintains current ARRT certification/registration and IEMA licensure
    • 4)Participates in problem solving that would improve quality for the department
    • 5)Maintains CPR certification
    • 6)Provides direction and instruction to new staff, students and staff in need of assistance
    • 7)Contributes to performance goals of department
    • 8)DEXA: Must become certified in DXA by ARRT within two years of hire.
    • 9)Completes required classes in ATMS
  • Other duties
    • 1)Stocks rooms as needed
    • 2)Assists others as needed
    • 3)Participates in patient education
    • 4)Participates in QC/QA testing-notifies supervisor when testing has exceeded the boundaries

Education/Experience Required:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
