The Medical Technologist at Granville Health System performs a variety of patient testing in multiple laboratory disciplines and specialty laboratories in support of clinical activities.   • Participates on teams or performs special projects/assignments.
  • Performs non-routine, more complex test procedures including special chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic laboratory tests.
  • Observes tests reactions and provides data.
  • Performs quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratories.
  • Reports results to healthcare providers.
  • Consults/confers with healthcare providers regarding test results.
  • Reviews test results to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction of errors.
  • May assist section supervisors in the development of new test methods, procedures writing, and staff education.
  • Participates and contributes to the laboratory performance improvement program to improve skills, lab productivity, communication and teamwork within the hospital.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors of Science Degree.
  • MLS/MT (ASCP) or MT (NCA) or MT (AMT) certification for MTs.
  • Associates degree in Clinical Laboratory Science Medical Laboratory Technician for MLTs.
  • If Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, must be ASCP or AMT Board of Certified for MLTs.
