Responsibilities

  • Complies with regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as clinic policies and procedures.
  • Stocks necessary supplies and reports when low to ensure timely reordering.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in clinical/technical tasks such as venipuncture and immunization administration.
  • Administers COVID vaccinations and manages COVID testing when needed.
  • Prepares patient charts for clinical exams, communicating with providers about specific patient needs.
  • Maintains exam rooms according to protocols, ensuring patient comfort and compliance with infection control standards.
  • Prepares patients for clinical exam/visit, including vital metrics collection.
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
  • Performs phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs.
  • Assists providers with clinical visits and outpatient office procedures.
  • Ensures completion of Social Determinants of Health Questionnaire with the patient.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational quality improvement projects.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by Clinical Director and/or Practice Coordinator.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant program; Certification preferred
  • Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system
  • Three years of direct patient care experience
  • Experience with pediatrics highly desirable
  • CPR/BLS for adult and child
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
  • Annual influenza vaccine
  • Must obtain or provide proof of PPD, Tdap, Hepatitis B Immunity, MMR Immunity, Varicella Immunity within 14 days of hire
  • Complete self-attestation of fitness for duty within 14 days of hire

Full Job Description

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES-
  • Ensures the safe, productive, and efficient operation of the clinic assigned through timely and attentive administrative and clinical support (as authorized or licensed)
  • Ensures all patients enjoy a positive experience, treated with the care and compassion expected
  • Ensures all patient records and related documents are managed and maintained timely, accurately, and consistent with all HIPAA and related regulations and requirements
  • Ensures all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes, and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as clinic policies and procedures
  • Ensures all necessary supplies are stocked. Promptly reports when supplies are low and works with Clinical Director to ensure timely reordering is completed
  • Demonstrates proficiency in clinical/technical tasks such as venipuncture, and immunization administration; follows universal precautions
  • Administers COVID vaccinations and manages COVID testing when needed
  • Prepares patient charts prior to clinical exams, proactively communicating with providers about specific patient needs
  • Maintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients' comfort and compliance with infection control standards
  • Prepares patients for clinical exam/visit, including the collection of typical patient vital metrics (blood pressure, temperature, height, weight etc.)
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks
  • Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures
  • Performs phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs.
  • Assists providers with clinical visits and outpatient office procedures
  • Performs clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
  • Ensures completion of Social Determinants of Health Questionnaire with the patient, referring them to internal resources as applicable.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational quality improvement projects.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by Clinical Director and/or Practice Coordinator

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES-

  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Fluent in medical terminology
  • Demonstrated success in managing difficult customer situations
  • Demonstrates proficiency in clinical/technical tasks such as venipuncture, immunization administration, and handling of lab specimens
  • Prolonged sitting and/or standing and moving about throughout the workday; keyboarding
  • Local travel between clinic sites
  • Rotates evening and Saturday morning shifts with co-workers
  • Attends a minimum of one outreach event per calendar year
  • Potential exposure to biohazardous materials
