  • Partner with providers across Chicago to advocate for the needs of those we encounter and ensure appropriate connection to needed services.
  • Maintain intake notes, agency resource records, and documentation using NAMI Chicago's database system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to travel to court in Cook County.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related fields.
  • Two or more years' experience working with people living with mental illness in a community mental health agency, hospital, or other setting.
  • Knowledge of the first responder community.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and database management.

Preferred

  • LSW, LPC, LCSW, or LCPC strongly preferred.

Reports to: Mental Health Court Manager

Office Location: 1801 W. Warner, Suite 202, Chicago IL; required in-office minimum of 3 days per week (hybrid work policy subject to change)

  • Monitor individuals involved in the mental health court as well as advocate for their needs.
  • Provide support, information, and referrals to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or severe mental illness and those trying to help them.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving underrepresented and vulnerable populations, including social and racial/ethnic minorities as well as those living with mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders.
  • Proven record of success working with a diverse environment regarding race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, and gender.
  • Exhibits sensitivity, empathy regarding human service issues and projects a non-judgmental attitude towards those requiring assistance.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities, organize time efficiently, and handle multiple demands.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to travel to court in Cook County. This work will regularly be performed at court locations that house adult mental health courts.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related fields.
