The Security Supervisor at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital is responsible for coordinating security operations under the general direction of the Security Manager or Director. Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, medical staff, employees, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Assist with the presentation of the safety session at the monthly new employee general orientation.
  • Assist in developing department goals and objectives, and implements policies and procedures to ensure consistent departmental operation.
  • Assists with the department operations budget process, to ensure that the department operates within set standards.
  • Prepares departmental reports and reports for senior management, as required.
  • Maintains a protective and preventive security system, and monitors security operations.
  • Ensures that all rounds, schedules, and directives are maintained on all shifts.
  • Maintains a visitor control and access procedure, including an employee identification system and lock and key control system.
  • Inquires into and investigates matters pertaining to both alleged losses and thefts, and wrongful acts of individuals affecting the hospital's security.
  • Reviews all incidents involving security, and keeps administration informed of such incidents and developments.
  • Maintains and oversees a parking system suited to the hospital's and other related business units needs.
  • Controls, issues, and monitors parking privileges consistent with hospital policies.
  • Assists with the maintenance of department equipment, supplies, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff to include monthly fire drills.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the security field.
  • Participates in hospital/medical staff committees as required. Attends and serves on professional/civil service organizations as hospital representative.
  • Interview potential candidates for employment in the Security Department.
  • Handle any type of disciplinary action through the Positive Discipline program to include attendance management.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate payroll information on the current timekeeping system.
  • Reviews officer reports daily to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and ensures that officers are as well by performing daily line inspections.
  • Completes employee performance evaluations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associates degree in security or a related field; or experience in security or a related field is required.
  • Must obtain CHSO Basic Certification through I.A.H.S.S. within 6 months of assignment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and compliance with Driving Criteria in Risk Management policy and procedure 125.43.
  • Must have PC utilization knowledge and operational skills to include word processing, spreadsheet and data base programs (Microsoft Office).
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of normal security systems procedures and office administration.
  • Must have working knowledge of key control and parking operations.

Under the general direction of the Security Manager or Director, the supervisor is primarily responsible for the coordination of security operations on the shifts.
