The Inpatient Coding Auditor is a full-time remote position responsible for performing inpatient encounter audits, evaluating compliance activities, and ensuring accurate and complete coding of diagnoses, procedures, and surgeries. Responsibilities
- Performs inpatient encounter audits and evaluates compliance related activities and services provided by the BayCare Health System HIM Coding Department.
- Interacts directly with coders, clinical documentation specialists, and/or physicians.
- Audits include documentation and accurate and complete coding of diagnoses, present on admission (POA), procedures/surgeries, and discharge disposition while utilizing ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines and other official coding references to ensure accurate coding including CMS, Federal Register, Official ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, etc.
- Performs special audits for specific issues within facility Inpatient claims.
- Acts as the Liaison for coding issues with the BayCare Compliance Department while maintaining a database of all audits performed, action taken, outcome and resolution.
- Provides feedback when coding changes are received and will serve as a resource for leadership within the facility HIM Coding departments.
- Serves as a resource to the coding department for special projects.
Qualifications
Required
- Must currently reside in Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina.
- In-depth knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, and Pathophysiology related to auditing position.
- Proficiency in MS Access Database, MSWord and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and official guidelines appropriate to position.
- Meeting facilitation skills.
Preferred
- RHIA/RHIT in conjunction with CCS certification.
- RN, CDIP, CCDS, or clinical degree.
- Associate's degree (preferred) or bachelor's degree (preferred).
- 3 years of experience with 3M 360.

**Certifications and Licensures**
+ Required - RHIA/RHIT in conjunction with CCS

**Experience**
+ Required - required experience includes a minimum 10 years of Inpatient coding experience within a large multi-facility inpatient setting, minimum 10 years of Inpatient auditing experience within a large multi-facility inpatient setting.
+ Preferred - experience includes 3 years of experience with 3M 360.
