Physician Assistant Role

The Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Physician Assistant to join the busy and growing Department of Cardiac Surgery. Under the direction of a cardiothoracic surgeon, the physician assistant is responsible for performing a variety of duties. These duties include but are not limited to: first assisting cardiovascular surgical procedures, endoscopic vessel harvesting, preoperative history and physical examination, postoperative care in an outpatient clinical setting and patient education.

The successful candidate will also support patient care from the point of admission to discharge in service, Step-Down, and ICU. Duties include managing multiple patients with varied critical illness, comprehensive physical assessments, interpretation of diagnostic results, hemodynamic/ventilator management, and invasive procedures. Extensive training and supervision are provided to the Advanced Practitioners for skills such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and removal of pacer wires.

Schedule: Permanent Nights – 3 - 13 hours shifts per week

Qualifications

Physician Assistant Requirements

· Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Master’s program
