The Laboratory Technician at MARQ Labs is responsible for conducting a variety of tests and formulations in accordance with protocols, standards, and specifications. This role involves making decisions to approve or reject products based on test results, performing internal calibrations, and adhering to safety policies and procedures. The technician will work closely with R&D, creative, operations, sales, and marketing teams to ensure compliance and quality of products on a domestic and international level.

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory functions of the cosmetic and personal care lab.
  • Assists with the formulation and reverse engineering of skin, body, and hair care products.
  • Performs required testing to ensure products adhere to specifications including stability testing, microbiologics, and other testing procedures.
  • Maintains detailed formula records of R&D process, routines, chemical and physical properties, performance, and stability testing.
  • Create formula specifications
  • Adheres to regulatory requirements as it pertains to cosmetic/personal care formulation
  • Perform receipt inspection and release of raw materials and finished products
  • Performs testing of raw materials, finished products, and addresses customer inquiries/complaints per the specification
  • Maintains retain and standards samples
  • Identifies and quarantines non-conforming materials.
  • Performs internal calibrations in Lab
  • Submits samples for testing for raw materials, bulks, and finished products.
  • Responsible for following cGMPs and safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for following approved test methods and SOP’s.
  • Perform other lab duties and projects as needed.
  • Work as a team with other departments.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • 4-year degree in Chemistry or related discipline highly preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a laboratory setting or similar environment
  • 1-2 years previous manufacturing, production, and/or quality experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge and practice of Quality and Safety Policies and Good Manufacturing Procedures
  • Ability to work independently or with minimum supervision
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and priorities
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of cosmetics/beauty industry highly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • PC literate in various databases including Google Suite/Google Docs
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, works well with others or alone, under minimal supervision.
  • Must perform well under pressure and deadlines.

You’ll be working alongside our R&D, creative, operations, sales and marketing teams to ensure that the formulations, testing and product development process meets all protocols, standards and specifications - here in the USA and around the world.


General Description

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting a variety of tests and formulations in accordance with protocols, standards and specifications. This role is required to make decisions to approve or reject bulk production, batch release, incoming raw materials, work-in-process, or finished goods based on test results. The Lab Technician will perform internal calibrations, demonstrate safe work practices, and follow all Company policies and procedures as well as submit testing of samples to 3rd party labs, as applicable.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs laboratory functions of the cosmetic and personal care lab.
  • Assists with the formulation and reverse engineering of skin, body, and hair care products employing general cosmetic science and lab practices with cosmetic products as O/W, W/O emulsions, tanning products, gels, pomades, shampoos, conditioners, body wash, hand soaps, mousses and OTC formulations
  • Understands the sensitivity to various cosmetic product attributes.
  • Performs required testing to ensure products adhere to specifications including but not limited to stability testing, microbiologics, and other testing procedures as outlined by protocols.
  • Maintains detailed formula records of R&D process, routines, chemical and physical properties, performance, and stability testing.
  • Create formula specifications
