The Registered Nurse in Emergency Services at John Muir Health is responsible for planning, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group of patients during a designated time frame.   • Triage patients effectively.
  • Manage precipitous deliveries and care for the mother and newborn post-delivery.
  • Stabilize critically ill patients prior to disposition, including acute stroke, acute STEMI, Sepsis, and respiratory distress.
  • Function competently in the flow and resource roles.
  • Assume the role of a relief charge nurse.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
  • 1 year of Nursing - Acute Care experience
  • 2000 hours Nursing - Emergency experience within the last 3 years
  • RN Registered Nursing license from the California Board of Nursing
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course from the Emergency Nurses Association
  • Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Must Pass at time of hire (Required if hired after 11/15/2018)
  • NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale certification - Achieved by the end of orientation to the assigned area
  • NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale competency - Successful completion on an annual basis
  • Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test – Internal Candidates Must Pass Prior to Applying for Position

The staff registered nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for planning, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group of patients during a designated time frame utilizing the John Muir Medical Center Standards of Care, ANA's Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, and the California Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, and Title 16. The RN coordinates and provides care through the therapeutic use of self, nursing process, and the environment and technology, in partnership and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.

Education:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing - Required

Experience:

  • 1 year - Nursing - Acute Care - Required

  • 2000 hours Nursing - Emergency - Must be Obtained within last 3 years - Core Requirement

Certifications/Licensures:

  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required

  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
