We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This role primarily focuses on maintaining and monitoring project budgets and ensuring financial performance aligns with project goals. The Project Accountant will work closely with project managers to identify and address budget variances and cost overruns.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly track and analyze project costs, revenues, and margins to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with project managers to identify and address budget variances and cost overruns.
  • Prepare and submit accurate project invoices in a timely manner.
  • Monitor accounts receivable for assigned projects, following up on overdue payments as necessary.
  • Work closely with clients to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure smooth payment processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely job costing for all projects, maintaining detailed records of expenses, labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of job costing systems and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for assigned projects, including cost-to-complete projections.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support project planning, decision-making, and risk management.
  • Act as the liaison between the accounting department and project management teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contract terms, and accounting standards (GAAP).
  • Maintain accurate and organized project records for auditing and compliance purposes.
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and project profitability.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Experience with Bank Reconciliations
  • Knowledge of General Ledger management
  • Ability to manage and process Journal Entries
  • Familiarity with Month End Close procedures
  • Proficiency in using SAP software
  • Experience in Project Accounting
  • Knowledge in Construction Accounting
  • Experience with Acumatica software
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
