Qualified Staffing is hiring a Temporary Cost Accountant for a seasonal position in Richmond, VA. This role involves providing accurate and timely financial information on product cost, ensuring the appropriate assignment of costs, and providing a basis for management control and decision-making. Responsibilities

  • Inputs standard costs in JDE of new purchased and manufactured products, including calculating the cost and freezing the cost, along with performing a diligent review of calculations.
  • Assists with the annual cost revision; provides analysis of cost changes.
  • Audits manufacturing variance, open WIP, zero cost, GL class code integrity and scrap reports. Investigates discrepancies to determine cause, makes updates as necessary to correct data and system processing errors.
  • Investigates and determines root causes of work order variances.
  • Prepares Daily Forecast, KPI’s and reporting.
  • Assists in analyzing and forecasting costs such as labor and material, expense items and inventory.
  • Prepares management reports as requested including analytics on cost variances.
  • Assists in month-end close journal entry preparation, analysis, and account reconciliations.
  • Monitors incoming whole good orders and ensures timely and accurate entry into JDE.
  • Assists in analyzing root causes of variances and provides analytical support.
  • Reviews and processes expense reports in Concur to ensure adherence to company policy and for correct general ledger coding.
  • Works within electronic invoice system (Transform Content Center/TCC) to code vendor invoices.
  • Opens / Distributes Mail.
  • Maintains record of contract employees including status and hours.

Qualifications

Required

  • Highly skilled and proficient with the use of personal computers; including spreadsheet analysis and preparation, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and other mainstream office software.
  • Ability to enter, identify, compile, analyze and evaluate financial and technical data, and make sound conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to formulate and deliver relevant financial reporting and material in a clear and concise manner that appeals to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build and foster effective business relationships with others within the organization.
  • Ability to provide timely, detailed, results oriented reports.
  • Ability to solve problems, reason, and use good judgment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize workload, and use time wisely
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently, takes initiative and learn new tasks.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or (1-2 years of accounting experience)
  • Working knowledge of ERP and financial analysis software a plus. Experience with JD Edwards is preferred.
  • Experience in cost accounting, variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations is preferred.

Position: Cost Accountant
Location: Richmond, VA
Compensation: $25/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under moderate to minimum supervision, provides accurate and timely financial information on product cost, assuring the appropriate assignment of costs and providing a basis for management control and decision-making.
JOB TASKS / FUNCTIONS:
Cost Accounting
