Design Engineer

Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Design Engineer is responsible for designing new tooling and providing CAM support. This role also supports tube fabrication and assembly, addressing quality and process control issues in current production while introducing new processes to improve quality and efficiency. The Design Engineer manages complete projects, from tooling design to procurement and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Lead Complete Project Management:

• Design dies, fixtures, weld jigs, and processes using 3D CAD software.
• Create all necessary documentation, including prints and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Procure required materials and components for production.
• Program components for fabrication using 3D CAM software.
• Support fabrication by introducing new cutting tools and practices.
• Oversee assembly and implementation of tooling for production.

II. Support Tube Fabrication and Assembly:

• Provide assistance across departments for tube fabrication and assembly processes.

III. Apply Problem-Solving Skills to Production and Maintenance:

• Set up machines for production runs and inspect parts to ensure quality.
• Collaborate with outside vendors to resolve production-related issues.
• Address questions from the sales department and product managers.
• Participate in sales calls, customer visits, and repair jobs when required.

IV. Uphold Company Standards and Goals:

• Maintain professionalism when interacting with colleagues, superiors, and production staff.
• Ensure proper care and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and facilities.
• Handle business contacts with resourcefulness and adherence to company policies.
• Safeguard proprietary manufacturing information in compliance with company policies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal tube fabrication and welded assemblies.

Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing techniques.
• Proficient in industry-standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Expertise in 3D CAD/CAM software, particularly Autodesk Inventor and FeatureCAM.
